The Friends of the Milford Upper Charles Trail conducted the annual fall clean-up of the Milford Upper Charles Trail – all 5.7 miles of the paved multi-purpose rail trail in preparation of the ribbon cutting and dedication of the phase 2 sections. The phase 2 expansion connects Milford to its neighboring communities of Hopkinton and Holliston extending the phase 1 section opened in 2007.
The Friends were joined by several students from Norfolk Agriculture & Bellingham High School working on community service, the Montgomery Lodge of Masons, an adopt a trail partner, and the Milford Patch. Armed with gas powered leaf blowers, rakes, brooms, shovels and trash bags, the volunteers cleared remnants of Hurricane Irene and tackled some erosion hot spots. Thank you, volunteers for this community effort!
Additional Adopt A Trail Partners are needed to assist the Friends with the bi-annual cleanups & regular sprucing up of designated trail segments. More information on the program can be found under the Community Involvement section. The next Trail clean-up will be held in the spring corresponding with Earth Day.
